New measures to check air pollution in Delhi

NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Secretary Rakesh Mehta convened a meeting in the Capital on Monday to draw up an action plan to reduce air pollution during winter.

The meeting was attended by Environment Pollution Control Authority chairman Bhure Lal and Centre for Science and Environment director Sunita Narain besides representatives of the Central Pollution Control Board, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi and the Environment and Forest Department.

It was decided to launch a public awareness campaign against burning of dry leaves and take measures to compost them.. New pollution standards decided by the Central Pollution Control Board would also be made public.
