HYDERABAD: Environmental problems are not for the older generation to tackle, but for the youngsters. Only because they are going live on this planet, said Nitin Desai, the founder of Lead India Foundation while speaking at the Indian Youth Summit of Climate Change (INSCC) on Thursday at the Infosys Campus, Gachibowli. Some 150 youngsters from all over the country attended the summit, organised by the Indian Youth Climate Network (IYCN).

The gathering that consisted of college students and young professionals set forth a task to pen down alternative policy pe rspectives to the existing climate change accords and polices.

“We want to represent our well thought-out opinions on global warming at national and international fora,” said Deepa Gupta, the Executive Director of IYCN.

Nitin Desai and Vandana Shiva of Nava Dhanya addressed the summit through teleconference. Nitin Desai said that the strong consent among the scientific community has facilitated an undisputed understanding of the problem. He felt that innovation of new technologies alone would solve the problems until there is a change in lifestyles.

The summit will come up with a policy draft that claims to be a critique of National Action Plan on Climate Change of the Central Government, said the sources. “We want to advocate this draft at the UN Global Summit that will be held in Poland later this year,” said Vikramaditya, one of organisers of the summit.
