Pollution everywhere: Control must before it's too late

Bhopal Jan 14: Environmental pollution is a serious problem of the industrialized societies. Environmental pollution can be defined as unfavorable alteration of our surroundings. The word pollution originally a Latin word "pollutionem" means to make dirty. Human population explosion, rapid industrialization, deforestation, unplanned urbanization. These are the major causes of environment pollution. Due to air pollution, the composition of the air is changing all over the world. Most of the gaseous and particulate air pollution is product of burning of fuels. Water pollution, sound pollution these are become serious problem. Water pollution changes the quality of water. It disturbs the balance of ecosystem and causes health to human and animals. Nowadays sound pollution has become a big problem. So many people use loud sound in bikes and cars. In India 14 only percent cars run on the roads as against 40 percent in America. But comparative to America, India is more polluted. Deforestation is a threat to the economy. Main causes of deforestation in India are wanton exploitation of forest wealth by human beings and livestock. Ideally, 33 percent of land of a country must be covered by forest. But India is losing about 1.5 million hectares of forest cover each year. Nearly 1 percent of the land surface of India is turning barren every year due to deforestation. Our population rate is increasing every year. This also plays a vital role in rising pollution.

Malika Malik is student of bioscience. She says sound pollution is a big problem in our country. So many people are suffering from hypertension, deafness etc. We should control it.

Dr Puma Tomar says that if this pollution continues, very soon 80 percent of people earning capacity would go down.

Ankur Gupta is student of S.A.T.I. college. He said that bikes are used by youngsters. They are using horns and sirens of monstrous decibels in the vehicles and it should be stopped.

Abhishek Khanelkar says 'this pollution will create different types of problems for us including various diseases and eye problem. The next generation will be effected so much that it would become impossible to live healthily.
