3-pronged initiative to save tiger

In its first-ever meeting held today, the recently constituted National Tiger Conservation Authority proposed three initiatives for tiger reserve states, including the formation of state-level steering committee, preparation of tiger conservation plan and establishment of tiger conservation foundation.

The meeting today deliberated on several issues related to tiger reserves, including the general approach for the XIth Plan covering anti-poaching, infrastructure, man-animal conflict, co-existence in buffer, research, staff development, determination of inviolate spaces for wildlife, and mainstreaming livelihood concerns. — TNS
