SPECIAL CLEANLINESS DRIVE SHOWS POSITIVE RESULTS

As per the initiative taken by district administration a special cleanliness drive is going on in the city from December 31 to get a better rank this time in All India Cleanliness Survey 2018, the scenario of local lake premises has changed within 3 days. DC Ravishankar Shukla, who led the drive said that the look of the area has changed due to the continuous effort of local denizens and specially the members of ‘My City My Responsibility’ group.

First time drone cameras were used with the permission of district administration on the lake premises to take the aerial pictures and the pictures released on December 31 and on January 3 says the success story of this initiative. On December 31 the drive was started from the small lake area where the statue of Mahatma Gandhi was established a year ago. Mayor Anjali Kumari, Deputy Mayor Anand Dev and conscious denizens joined hands and worked for more than 2-3 hours daily in the morning to clean the lake and its surrounding areas.

On Tuesday evening SDO Aditya Ranjan talked with media persons on various issues including the cleanliness drive. He informed that a 10 member quick action team has been constituted by the municipal corporation which after getting information will clean the area within 24 hours. He also informed that for the ongoing cleanliness drive of lake and its adjoining areas which is pride of the town a 12 member team has been constituted to keep eye on entire process.

Regarding the dues of corporation, SDO informed that he has issued warrants against 90 persons in certificate cases lodged by corporation. If they will not pay the dues within a week then they will have to go to jail. He also informed that during last 5 days Rs. 24 lakhs has been collected from defaulters of the town area who were not paying tax since long. SDO also informed that Rs. 39 lakh has been collected as fine from the trucks he had seized from different highways in charges of overloading, violating pollution norms etc.
