Industrial pollution unabated
Correspondent :
District has most industrial units

The combined Medak district was famous for industries and several industrial corridors were established in the past. Though they were instrumental in providing employment they were also main concern for polluting the areas as well as groundwater. Despite repeated appeals by farmers and other sections there was no improvement.

Even after division of districts, Sangareddy heads in the top of the list for having larger number of industries. Patancheru, Bollaram, Bontapally and Khajipally areas are having large number of industries. There are as many as 649 industries emitting pollution. The locals allege that many industries were releasing pollutants to tanks and streams.

One can feel the impact of pollution while travelling on Narsapur road and also at some places at Patancheru.

The pollutants being released into various streams by different industries has been reaching to Khajipally tank, residents complain. Similarly, the pollutants have been reaching to Aasnikunta from there to KishtareddypetPeddacheruvu.

The interior forest areas in the Narsapur were also reportedly becoming dump yards for several industries. “This is a routine problem for us during rainy season and everyone in the official circles are well aware of it. Somehow they were not paying the required interest in this regard,” said Venkatesh, a resident of Narsapur.
