PPCB, army collaborate to plant 50k trees

Patiala: The Punjab Pollution Control Board has collaborated with army in Patiala to plant 50,000 trees in the district to increase the green cover.

A meeting was conducted by IAS, chairman, Punjab Pollution Control Board K S Pannu with the army authorities and representatives of Nahar Group of Industries to finalize the plan for plantation of trees in Patiala. Flowering trees like Gulmohar, Shirin, Sukhchain, Neem will be planted, along with fruit bearing trees in selected locations. The tree plantation shall be carried out by the army men and their families.

The necessary fertilizers, tree guards and the logistic support will be provided by Nahar Group of Industries. During the meeting, Pannu stressed on the need of a close coordination among different departments in identifying the vacant lands and carrying out more plantations there.
