Non-Aligned Movement and the threats to the Environment
Correspondent : Save Environment
Beside the powerful economies and the strong human hold on the world, there is one natural phenomenon named by humans itself, which cannot be ignored and avoided because none has that supreme power, but the geography. Geographical consequences often leave countries battle for situations where the natural drift can only be the answers to the questions limiting one form the development, which is unpredictable even if one has well-plastered plans. Ecosystems are complicated. The history of our attempts to manipulate ecosystems shows that we often make mistakes and fail to see the unintended consequences of our actions. Our species owes its existence to the living world that we share with other species. We owe the living world a chance to perpetuate the life-creating processes of natural selection, population dynamics, and exchange cycles. We can only pay this debt by protecting the environment.

The untouchable limits of nature are often hard to catch up with. None can ever be aware of the natural calamities that would hit numerous lives any moment. Coming across this inflating situation, Non-Aligned Movement has analyzed and confronted with its members to know the natural barriers and difficulties restricting every node of the system. There have been instances when humans tried to take over the nature surpassing the limits through some chemical and artificial means. Since then NAM has called for withdrawing the destructive means of control and stressed on for not intruding with the course of almighty nature. The humans seem to be disturbing the geographic determinism, which is pushing them away from actual life and they are rather overriding with globalization in their lives, which has transformed the living of people giving them alternatives to live without nature. Since the globalization has introduced latest techniques, NAM says that the new human working style and the rising environmental degradation is disrupting several areas, leading to global warming where people are engulfed in the various alien diseases, increasing panic and horror.

In the meetings and conferences, NAM has been discussing various policies with its member states to amend more environmental friendly measures to reduce pollution and the detrimental effects of the carbon dioxide, which is increasing rapidly every year. The fascination towards the technological change in the society has left the environment on fire, which has been protesting since the inception of technological revolution. The technological globalization has led the whole world towards destructive activities harmful for nature. For the economic, political and cultural development, NAM specially encourages its members towards the use of environmental friendly resources, which it has been collaborating with its member states.

Apart from what humans have been imparting, NAM pointed towards the countries that are deprived of natural resources and where the scope of agriculture is very low. Most of the countries have long mountain ranges, which is leaving less area for agriculture, thus leading to international gaps in the cultural exchange. According to Inter Governmental Plan on Climate Change (IPCC), due to excessive flow of international trade large number of tropical forests are being cut down, where the rate of deforestation is more than the afforestation rate; leading to the imbalances in the carbon content in nature.

Just to minimize the degradation of forests, NAM has been working towards increasing the rate of afforestation, maintaining the balance between the trade and the environmental conditions. Moreover, through multilateralism, NAM encourages the exchange of resources within member to eradicate the insufficiency by maintaining balance with nature and bringing peaceful agreements with each other. Respective to the topography of its member states, NAM has ordered to fabricate some protection plans for the unexpected nature’s strike in order to safeguard the situation to the maximum extent. The member states of NAM are taking several initiatives to safeguard the environmental conditions along with the flawless flow of business and trade among nations. Considering the geographical factors judiciously would help saving the nature and the lives of people.

The main obstacle that one would definitely stumble upon is the role of globalization, which has allowed the nations around the world to conglomerate the businesses. It has not only stabilized the economies of the world but providing platform to those who earlier had no sign of existence in the global economy. If NAM continues to work keeping the calamitous effects of globalization at bay, the nexus of trade and the environmental condition would never be affected, if maintained.
