Tiger skin and bones seized in Kaziranga

Jorhat: Police seized the skin of a Royal Bengal tiger, along with its bones, from a man near the BiswanathGhat forest range in Kaziranga National Park on Saturday evening.

The person, identified as Ghanashyam Gupta of BiswanathChariali area in Sonitpur district, was handed over to the Kaziranga forest staff for investigation and necessary action.

"The skin and the bones were being smuggled from Arunachal Pradesh to sell to someone at the BiswanathChariali area in Sonitpur district. The arrested person is a middleman who took the said articles from someone to give it to another trader. Our investigation is on," said Rohini Saikia, divisional forest officer (Kaziranga).
