Sultanpur park to reopen from December 1
Correspondent : TNN
GURUGRAM: A month after it was shut in the wake of bird fludeaths in Delhi and Hisar, the Sultanpur National Park will reopen for visitors from December 1. Sources said the authorities have decided to reopen the park after the samples sent to the laboratory were tested negative. The forest department had closed down the park — one of the popular destinations of migratory birds in the region — in the first week of November for a week on precautionary ground. Later, the shutdown was extended for three more weeks.

"The situation is normal now in the region. So, we have decided to reopen the park from December 1," said conservator of forest (wildlife) Rambir Singh. With the advent of winter, sources said, a large number of migratory birds have started flocking to the park. The forest department is expecting a large turnout of birds this season. The park was closed due to avian flu in January 2015, following death of 47 birds — mostly Eurasian coots — due to avian flu.

Sultanpur bird sanctuary — located around 40km from DhaulaKuan in Delhi and 15km from Gurgaon— is a popular weekend destination in the National Capital Region (NCR).
