City ‘severely polluted’ second day in a row |

LUCKNOW: Lucknow remained "severely polluted" for the second consecutive day on Wednesday. It was the 12th time the city pollution level crossed over 400 micrograms/cubic metre of air in November.
As per data released by the Central Pollution Control Board, Lucknow was severely polluted with pollution levels recorded 403 micrograms/cubic metre of air on Wednesday.
The PM2.5 concentration in Lucknow was again found seven times higher than 60 micrograms/cubic metre, the permissible limit set by the National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). PM2.5 is a particulate matter of diameter less than 2.5 micrometres, about 3% the diameter of a human hair.
Throughout November, city figured in very poor or severely polluted category which means exposure to such air can lead to respiratory illness and in the case of severe pollution affected even healthy people.
The highest pollution level in the month was recorded on November 9 with pollution level recorded at 494 micrograms. Twice, the city figured in the list of the most polluted city in the country in November.
