20 birds, seven buffaloes found dead near Dahej
Correspondent : TNN
Surat: Nearly 20-25 water birds and seven buffaloes were found dead near Suva village near Dahej port, some 25 km of Bharuch city, on Sunday.

While polluted water laced with chemicals is strongly suspected to be the reason for the deaths, officials said the exact reason will be known only after a post-mortem is conducted.

Suresh Vasava, head constable of Dahej police station, said, "We got a call informing about the deaths at around 2:30pm. This is the spot where waters of Narmada River waters merge with the sea. There was a high tide on Sunday afternoon. As a result, lot of sea water and river water had intruded in the village land. We found animals on Narmada shores."

A team of veterinary doctors would conduct the post-mortem on Monday morning to find out the exact reason of the death .

Falgun Modi, GPCB officer in charge of Bharuch district said, "Our team also reached the spot and started the investigations. We have taken water samples from different places in the area."
