World Environment Day: Kids in Mysuru paint the canvas with green ideas

Mysuru: A drawing competition was organised by the Shri Ravi Varma Art Institute (SRVAI) on the theme 'Save Earth/Environment', to mark World Environment Day on Sunday.

S Sameeksha, who is studying in class VII in CFTRI School said, "I wish to become an artist. So, I have joined classes to learn sketching from a professional."

Explaining her painting which depicted two phases of life, with and without nature, she said, "My painting shows how good a life we can lead with good atmosphere by protecting and safeguarding greenery and how our lives can turn into hell without the environment."

Shikhar, a student of class V in Manasarowar Pushkarini Vidyashrama School said, "I like to participate in such competitions as it helps me to learn better and get new ideas."

Shivakumar Kesaramadu, principal of SRVAI said, "Our intention to conduct the drawing competition is to encourage children to think about saving the environment."

Winners will be given cash prizes on June 11. Nearly 300 students participated in the competition.
