Environment minister Prakash Javadekar to speak in Coimbatore on June 7

Union minister for environment and forest Prakash Javadekar will be addressing a gathering at Suguna Auditorium at Kalapatti Road on June 7 at 10.30am. Javadekar will speak about the BJP's governance at the Centre in the last two years.

Woman assaulted by relative: A 32-year-old woman was assaulted by her relative on Friday evening in Alandurai. The victim, Kirojini M, lives on Vivekanandan Street in Alandurai. On Friday evening, Solomon D alias Karuppan, a relative of Kirojini placed firewood in front of Kirojini's house's doors. Around 9pm, she asked Solomon to remove the firewood, but he picked up a quarrel with Kirojini and abused and assaulted her. Kirojini was admitted to the government hospital. The police has registered a case, is on the look out for the accused.

Man mowed by truck: A 35-year-old man was mowed to death by a truck on Trichy Road on Saturday morning. The deceased, Senthil Kumar S, of Ondipudur, worked as a welder. On Saturday, around 11am, Senthil was passing through the vegetable market on Trichy Road on his Honda Activa, when a truck rammed his bike. He was rushed to the government hospital where he died. Police registered a case, and is searching for the truck driver, A Daniel, 29, who hails from Tuticorin.

Education summit from June 8: The department of special education of Avinashilingam University along with the University of Minnesota, USA, will organize an international summit on inclusion and response to intervention- a global perspective from June 8 to 10.
