Massive plantation drive taken up
Correspondent :
The National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Ramagundam, participated in World Environment Day celebration by taking up a massive tree plantation in the township and the plant area on Sunday. NTPC Ramagundam executive director Prasant Kumar Mohapatra, along with other officials, participated in the walkathon to educate people about the importance of tree plantation and its protection. Later, they planted the saplings and took an oath to protect them. On this occasion, the NTPC decided to conduct month-long competitions among students, employees and their family members about the importance of environment.

The NTPC Ramagundam, since its inception, has been demonstrating continual improvement in fuel conservation, ash utilisation, waste minimisation, and afforestation. During the year 2015-16, the NTPC utilized 44.8 lakh metric tonnes of ash equivalent to more than 89.2 per cent ash utilisation, among the highest in NTPC stations. The power station is also supporting the Telanganaku Haritha Haram programme of the State government.

Carrom championship

The 46th Telangana senior inter-district carrom championship, organised by NTPC Ramagundam, was formally inaugurated on Sunday. Around 160 participants from all the districts of the State are participating in the four-day competition.
