Plantation drive hopes for monsoon harvest
Correspondent : TNN
Gurgaon: On the occasion of World Environment Day, Haryana State Pollution Control Board (HSPCB) along with district administration and the forest department initiated a campaign to plant native trees before monsoon arrives on Golf Course Road on Sunday.

Over 800 saplings were planted from Vatika Chowk on Golf Course Road to Ghata Chowk near Golf Course Extension Road. "The idea is to plant enough trees before monsoon so that they can survive easily. We will conduct the tree plantation drive on the entire Golf Course Extension road," said an HSPCB official.

According to the forest department, keeping the forest cover intact is essential to protect wildlife in the region. "Wildlife can't survive in the absence of a proper forest. Fruit trees like neem and peepal help in conserving many bird species, ves are important to protect the wildlife in Aravalis," said M D Sinha, conservator of forests, Gurgaon Circle told TOI.

The agencies plan to plant more than 20,000 trees on different locations on Golf Course Extension road before monsoon.
