World Environment Day: Intn'l award to environmentalists for their contribution towards Ganga

Varanasi: On the eve of World Environment Day, SankatMochan Foundation and Swacch Ganga Abhiyaan jointly organized a programme at TulsiGhat on Saturday evening where 'Prof Veer Bhadra Mishra International Environment Award' was conferred posthumously to two environmentalists for their contribution towards Ganga.

The award was posthumously conferred to former dean of IT-BHU (now IIT-BHU) and creator of Ganga Cleaning Project under SankatMochan Foundation Nikhilesh Roy and social worker and environmentalist and founder of Friends of Ganges Society in US, Fran Peavey.

The award was also given to noted poet and litterateur HariramDwivedi, who spread the message of cleanliness of Ganga through his poems and folk songs.
