1L trees to be planted during this monsoon

Vadodara: City-based Aadhar Hasta Foundation to mark the World Environment Day on June 5 will launch an initiative to plant 1, 00,000 trees in Vadodara this monsoon. The foundation along with Forest Department and other voluntary institutions plans to make Vadodara a green city.

"We will be covering Divisional Railway Manager's Office in Pratapnagar, the area by the railway lines at Sayajigunj, Manjalpur till Maneja, police stations and chowkis, sports complexes, grounds and organizations among others," foundation founder SharmilaMahurkar said.

"As a part of our door-to-door campaign, we will be donating saplings to the citizens for free. We intend to promote greenery by donating fruits and flowers as well. We will be distributing seedlings that have a life of over 100 years which will be useful to mankind," added Mahukar.
