| Cycle jatha planned for World Environment Day |

| The Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment, in association with the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, is celebrating the World Environment Day on June 5 and 6 at Kanteerava Indoor Stadium in Bengaluru. The programme, to be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at 10.30 am on June 5, will have Minister for Forest, Environmental and Ecology B. Ramanath Rai as chief guest.
As a preclude to the celebration, the Karnataka State Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) will be organising drawing and essay competition for schoolchildren on Thursday at Balabhavan, Cubbon Park.
To create awareness on control of vehicular pollution and adopting greener modes of transport, a Cycle Jatha by NGO ‘Go Green’ will be organised at 8 a.m. from Ashoka Pillar, Jayanagar on June 5. The cyclists will proceed through Jayanagara 3 rd Block, Madhavan Park, Lalbagh Circle, Visone Cinema, Shantinagar road, Richmond Circle, Kittoor Rani Channamma Circle and reach the stadium at 9.00am.
The 'ParisaraJatha” will follow at 8 am from Gandhi Statue, Mourya Circle and will be inaugurated by the B. Ramanatha Rai, Minister for Forest, Ecology and Environment. The Jatha will pass through Sheshadri road K.R.Circle, Nrupathunga Road, Rani Chennamma Circle before reaching the Kanteerava Indoor Stadium.
The occasion will also see the Department of Forest, Ecology and Environment (Karnataka Government) bestowing 6 environment awards.
