Aurangabad: To mark the occasion of World Environment Day on Sunday, a city-based NGO is conducting a unique tree plantation drive called MajheZhad, MajheMul (My tree, my child). The NGO will be donating over 500 saplings to the citizens, encouraging them to plant and nurture their saplings.

JagrutiManchMahilaBahudeshyaSanstha, Aurangabad president BharatiBhandekar said, "We will be donating more than 500 saplings to the citizens on the occasion of World Environment Day on Sunday. A camp would be set up below the Kranti chowk flyover from 10am to 1 pm. Trees of about 4 to 5 feet in height and of different varieties like peepul, gulmohar, Banyan, rubber plant, neem would be distributed to interested citizens."

Another member Neha Gundewar said that the drive would be unique in its way as the theme would be MajheZhad, MajheMul (My tree, my child). "The citizens taking the saplings will have to pledge that they will nurture the sapling as a child of their own," she said.

"We will also collect all details of the citizens who are taking the saplings from us and keep an eye on the saplings. This work has been distributed among our other members," said Archana Vaidya, a member.

Meanwhile, all dignitaries including the district collector would be attending the camp, said member SushmaSoni.
