Deer rescued from well near Sankarapuram
Correspondent :
VILLUPURAM: A deer which had fallen into a well was resuced by the Fire and Rescue Services personnel near Sankarapuram on Monday. It was later released in the forests.

Deer crossings are common on the road near Aviriyur village near the reserved forest area, especially during the summer when they wanders farther looking for food and water. Some of them unwittingly enter the village, but make it back to the forest.

The deer which strayed into the village on Monday afternoon attracted the attention of some children who were playing outside their houses. They began chasing it and the frightened deer jumped into the yard of one Selvanathan's house, and fell into a 20-ft well there.

When the villagers couldn't help it out, they informed the Sankarapuram fire and rescue station. A team under station officer Karthikeyan rescued it after a two-hour long operation. The forest department officials inspected the deer for injuries and finding none, released it near the reserved forest area.
