Online pollution clearance to be issued in 60 days
Correspondent : Shilpy Arora
Gurgaon: The state pollution control board has decided to issue permission and No Objection Certificates online, making the application process smoother for existing businesses, and for those starting operations. It'll also cut down processing time to half, by issuing clearances within 60 days.

Last month, the board had introduced a draw for inspecting polluting industrial units. Now, it will also offer clearances within 60 days, instead of the usual 120. The board will also start an e-payment gateway developed by NIC (National Informatics Centre), to collect processing fee for Consent To Establish (CTE) and Consent To Operate (CTO) documents.

To obtain a CTE/CTO, all supporting documents can now be submitted online. Industrial units will also be able to download a digitally signed approval certificate. "Steps have been taken to make it easier for industries to operate in the city. Also, HSPCB officials will now be able to focus on monitoring. Earlier, most of our time was devoted to issuing clearances and permissions," said a HSPCB official. He added the online system will also bring transparency. "Online access to clearances and consents will put them in public domain, allowing anyone to easily verify approved certificates," he said.

The move was welcomed by industrialists. "The online system will help industries a lot. Earlier, we had to personally submit each and every document required for permissions and clearances. I'm glad both have now gone online," said Praveen Yadav, president of Gurgaon Udyog Association.
